Women in art

Over the centuries, women have always connected to art in all its expression, whether in music , literature, theatre or in painting … They have made and continue to make a contribution in the art movement and are involved in its progress .However, the issue of discrimination has been a battle that women fight against and struggle with. So how is the gender discrimination a challenge in the art world? Who are the biggest female artists in the history? And what have they accomplished?

There has been a widespread and radical belief that women were not as good or as talented as men in the making of any kind of art .So in these conditions, it is hard for women to prove that their bond with the art world is the same as the men’s bond with it. Therefore, women oeuvres were not as popular and well liked as men’s. Even if there is an increase of tolerance between both genders, we still see in our time a kind of inequality. Women artists have confessed that they are not as well paid as men. They are less showed in galleries and festivals. In something as subjective as art the topic of gender specific shouldn’t matter at all. We normally should appreciate art for what it gives and how it looks not for who made it. ‎Fighting against this unfairness is something that women are obligated to do to integrate the artistic domain and some of them express it through their work.
